Arvind was looking after the prosperous business of his father, Amabalal, while Ajay, his cousin, was studying in college. Their house was devoid of peace because Ambalal's wife, Shanta, was a domineering woman who kept shouting at everyone except her only daughter, Bhairavi whom she spoilt by undue dotage. Bhairavi, though married, would not go to her husband, Sarang's place, and was indulging in motiveless mischief. This mischief resulted in Arvind suspecting the relationship between his devoted wife Gowri and his cousin Ajay. A victim of circumstances, Arvind rushed out of the house to kill himself on the day Ajay was married to Pallavi. Arvind was saved by a girl Minakshi, who was to have married him once. Sympathizing with his agony, Minakshi took a kindly interest in him to save him from ruin. Arvind mistook this for love and one day even proposed marriage with her.

Ajay felt that unless his uncle took charge of the house, it would go to pieces. He seized the earliest opportunity and triggered his uncle into action with the result that all the family members were put in their proper places. Meanwhile, a baby was born to Gowri.

Arvind came home for money and in his fury disowned parentage of his child and went away. That night Gowri tried to end her life. Ajay saved her just in time. When Ajay went to bring Arvind, Arvind accused him of having an illicit relationship with Gowri and beat him severely. When Gowri learned of this she rolled down the staircase.

Sarang dragged Arvind home and with Bhairavi's confessions, disproved all his allegations. Arvind rushed up to his room to seek forgiveness to Gowri. Ajay found that Gowri would not look at or talk to him. Deciding to live no more, he moved out. Arvind, Ambalal, Shanta, Pallavi — all tried to stop him; but he would not. Arvind begged of Gowri to save Ajay. Gowri came to herself and called out for Ajay. Gowri bhabhi's call stopped Ajay and he came back. All the members of the family have united once again.
