'EK THA RAJA' is a story of man. Who denies God and believes in himself. 

Lalchand Dogra (Kadar Khan) cannot see anyone who dare defy him, but Baba (Mohan Joshi) survives Dogra's wrath.

Baba plans to destory Dogra's family and succeeds in doing so. Dogra's upright wife Anjana (Aruna Irani) leaves Dogra, a child in her womb and two sons with Dogra.

Param Jeet Singh (Alok Nath) an honest police officer and Dogra's childhood friend puts Dogra in jail for a life term. Dogra's both sons are on the streets while Dogra believes that in the cross firing with the police, his sons have died. He vows to avenge the destruction of his family. 

Elder son, Raj (Aditya Pancholi) has been taken by Baba under his wings and trained as a contract killer. 

Second son Jay (Sunil Shetty) finds a place in Param jeet's house as his loved son and trained as an upright police officer, who often comes across Raj and vows to book him and teach him to follow the law of land.

Third son Sunny  (Saif Ali Khan) who comes to Bombay for his living and meets his brothers by chance.    

Dogra comes out of jail and the bloody drama takes place.

The paradox of the situation is, that a son is out to kill his father, Second son is looking for a chance to put his father behind bars and the Third son is trying to save his father.

Dogra comes to know about his family and realises the power of God now he believes in God but there is a devil also, his name is Baba.
