In a small village, Neela, the daughter of Thekedar, Jugal Babu was known as the most beautiful and the most vivacious girl, who had her own way of behaviour, that famous behaviour when youth knocks at a young girl's heart.

Always she went to the river-bank to fetch water, and always she was the cause of many a storm in the hearts of many a young man. But there came Rajendra, a Prince charming from the city, who had stolen her heart with enchanting love. Rajendra loved Neela and Neela loved Rajendra. To be in each other's company, it was Paradise on the Earth.

Inspite of gossiping tounges of the village, inspite of her father's disapproval, Neela used to meet Rajendra, and as days passed, their love began blossoming into a divine dream coming true.

Circumstances had introduced Urvashi an alluring dancer whose song and dance had made her a toast of the town, to Rajendra, and as dame fate would have it. Urvashi had a soft corner for Rajendra.

Mischievious Neela, against her father's wish managed to meet Rajendra and as pre-arranged they both came to Urvashi's programme when Urvashi was about to dance, her eyes fell on Rajerdra whom she had been secretly loving. She swooned and there was a great commotion in the place. Urvashi's manager having been upset by this grew furious. He came to Rajendra and said, "you are the cause of it ! you !" Neela heard this, she rushed towards the stage and declared that the show will go on, because she was going to sing and dance, and she danced with a song! What a marvellous song it was Cheers and loud applause filled the air.

But the vile tongues of the village rose into more filthy gossip about Neela and Rajendra. Rajendra's aunty thought wise to arrange Rajendra's marriage with some other girl. But during the last movement of the marriage ceremony, everybody was amazed to see that Neela and Rajendra were married.

But still the mysterious shadows of suspense and something terrible lurked in the background. Was there married life going to be a happy one? There came a moment when Neela had to face her father.

He told her that she had married a man whose father was killed by Basant, her very brother.
