The story revolves around a cowherd who lives in natural surroundings and whose ultimate goal is to be true to his profession. He searches for independence in his natural habitat; aspiring for freedom from politics and from career aspirations. In his mind he knows that living happily is better than blindly chasing empty promises of freedom.
The film acquaints us with a wandering tribe which lives in jungles for years together and roams with their flock. It is not possible for them to stay at one place and they wander like their forefathers. The cowherd has an intelligent son. A teacher spots him and requests the cowherd to send him to school. The son passes with flying colours and earns a scholarship to an architectural college.
The son’s profession of designing houses is in contrast to his father’s occupation. The ownership of a house for the cowherd is against his beliefs but for the developing society it is a sign of stability. The father and son are in conflict over this difference in values.
The son falls in love with his colleague who is the daughter of a builder who has risen from poverty. The cowherd foresees the bright future of his son. When the son decides to settle in a city, he is in turmoil but finally accedes to his request. The cowherd visits Goa after its liberation to find it undergoing great changes.
One day, he watches the news of a minor girl being molested. This completely shatters him as this act is beyond his imagination. He immediately leaves the city in search of his father. Finally the father is traced and the son is happy that he is safe. The father understands the son and accepts his decision to not stay in the jungles.
The film was exhibited at the 43rd IFFI.
