DAWAT (Invitation), the story purports upon the connotation of the word INVITATION that is: Man invites not only pleasure but also trouble and likewise. Further the story of Dawat stresses upon the idea that how to fathom out the definition of ORIGINALITY and REALITY; how to compromise with the plurality of human VOLITION; how to face the challenges in the jungle of our social conventions and parapheralia.

The whole episode of DAWAT proceeds in this way; Gopal, a stout village youth, left his hearth and home; his beloved a little rustic village damsel Madhu, in pursuit or a job. Gopal came down to city to join a service of a very rich lady Mrs. Sharma who had double personality; possessed tremendous wealth along with honour and had having high reputation for her generosity. Gopal had to work in her FARMYARD where stayed her younger unmarried sister Sarita. After a shortwhile an incident took place that caused Sarita either to be admitted in the hospital or she had to pay the cost her ailment with her life. The situation forced her to choose the latter. The hospital authority asked for her husband for signing of some necessary paper. At this crucial juncture, Gopal posed himself as her husband and thereby saved her life but definitely with all secrecy.

Hereafter Sarita got enchanted with Gopal and fell in deep love with him. Since Gopal was a man of character and true to his salt he remained on his heel. Therefore disappointment and dismay for Sarita were inevitable. Whatsoever the turning point came when the housekeeper of the farmyard Karan Karan Singh started blackmailing Sarita for the reason best known to the circumstances.

And on one dark night, both Sarita and Karan Singh were found dead in a pool of blood. Gopal, though innocent, was arrested on the charge of double murder. On the other hand, the elder sister of the victim Sarita was arrested for the same crime. The prosecution was started.

What happened to innocent Gopal?
What fate was awaiting to Mrs. Sharma?

And last but not the least the poor Madhu?
