This is story of a sleepy village of this country and its people. Bansikaka an honest farmer was loosing his eye-sight with age but he was least concerned as he had two young sons Birju and Ramu of whom he was so proud, the two sons worked hard in the fields and at home, the village girls were crazy mad about them but then Birju was in love with the moneylender's daughter Ganga. The moneylender Sukhilala was the right hand man of the Zamindar who was henpecked husband to his second wife almost half his age.

Sita the step daughter to the Zamindar's second wife returned from the city an soon lost her heart to Ramu this caused a fire in the step mother, she summoned her distant relative Bhairaw Singh to come to the village and take over the administrative work from her aging husband, the entry of Bhairaw Singh into the village brought teror and disharmony his methods of life were crude and lusty. One day his lust fell upon Ganga, the poor girl had no face to face the world she jumped into a well and committed suicide Bhairaw Singh manipulated in a fashion that Birju appeared to be the culprit, the police took him in to custody.

Poor Bansikaka had no one to look forward as Ramu had quarrelled over the dividents of grain with the Zamindar and left the village to join army, the only two people who took care of him were the village tanga driver Laxman and his beloved Sonia.
Birju escaped from the police custody to become angry bandit he swore that he would avenge the death of Ganga.

Ramu returned from the battle field displaying a medal for gallantary but in the encounter he had lost one of his leg, Bansikaka informed him of Birju becoming a Bandit.

Sita was being decorated as it was her day of marriage to Bhairaw Singh Birju and his man struck like lightning kidnapped Sita under heavy gunfire, the village kept looking helplessly.

Ramu disliked the act of his brother as Birju was trying avenge the death of Ganga through Sita moreover Ramu had returned from the Indian army where every soilder is ordered to respect all women my it be your own or the enimies.
Ramu took an oath to bring back Sita to the village from the custody of Birju even if he lost his life in doing so.
