Shyam and Pradip are good friends and classmates. Shyam falls in love with Sundari, and Pradip well understands their feelings for each other. It so happens that in a fit of excitement at a college carnival, Shyam and Sundari go beyond the limits of platonic love resulting in the danger of Sundari becoming an unwed mother. Pradip is an eyewitness to what has happened to Sundari who lives the dreams of marrying Shyam. But Shyam is reluctantly married to Nisha, daughter of wealthy Seth Govinddass, who has helped in educating him. His conscience dogging him, Shyam abstains from conjugal life with Nisha. Here Pradip, quite aware of the illegal child of Shyam in the womb of Sundari, agrees to marry her unknowingly proposed by his well-meaning parents, just to save the honour of Sundari.

And for the outside world, he is the father of the child but, in fact he is the only consolation for Sundari, to whom he is more a brother than a legally married husband. The two couples- Shyam-Niha and Pradip-Sundari with child-happen to travel in the same bay of the compartment of a train when Nisha finds out that her own husband is the real father of the child. A heated argument between Nisha and Pradip and his sister brings out the truth behind Shyam's indifference to Nisha ever since his marriage to her.

Will wealthy Nisha wreak vengeance on her husband and Sundari?
What is the fate of Sundari and her child?

See the touching climax on the Screen.
