"ANGAARAY" is set in Mumbai at a time when a crime like extortion is a daily occurrence. Inspector Amar (Akshay Kumar) is called into the city to go to the root of the underworld and eliminate the anti-social elements.

Amar is shocked to learn that the very man he is looking for is his friends Raja (Nagarjuna), Jaggu (Paresh Rawal), and Surya (Irfan Kamal), whom he was separated from in childhood because of a crime accidentally committed by him. Amar got a chance to reform and grabbed it. He must now try and show his friends the right path. Aiding him in his endeavor are Pooja (Pooja Bhatt), his childhood sweetheart and Roma (Sonali Bendre), a young prostitute who is in love with Raja. How Amar manages to reform his friends and book Lala (Gulshan Grover), the man behind the scenes from the crux of the story.
