Set in the picturesque location of Goa, Aaleesha is about a mine owner’s family and their interaction with the residents of the mining belt of Goa.

Aleesha is a photographer who is keen on preserving the environment and whose belief is that enthusiasm is the outcome of joy. She marries into a mining family, and problems erupt every other day. She tries to set right the blatant violation of laws, which causes problems in her professional life. Her strictly upright policies often face violation in their implementation.

Whilst displaying her conviction Aleesha drives herself successfully towards her wishes and her inner voice. Along with the industry, it is the call of the day to have a sustainable environment. While industries are essential, the preservation of the environment is crucial as well, and Aleesha repeatedly stresses this point.

Lorna in a guest appearance renders the song Portun Aikat Mhozo Tavo (Hear my voice again). Prashanti Talpankar in the role of Philo, the wife of a truck driver draws attention for her acclaimed performance.

The film received a National Award the best film in Konkani language of 2005. It was also shown at the International Film Festival of India 2001, Pune International Film Festival 2005 and Berlin Asia Pacific Film Festival.
