It is a well-known fact that one lie leads to another. To cover up one falsehood, one is forced to speak a thousand others. And especially if this fabric of lies is built up in between a husband and wife well, you can imagine the result for yourself.

Sunil Mehta was a happy go-lucky city businessman. Married to a pretty and otherwise loving wife. Geeta, Sunil’s only problem was that she was easily led to suspicion.

Returning from his office one evening, Sunil was attracted by the sight of a wayside carnival. Reminded of his childhood days by the vision of whirling giant wheel, he forgot that he had promised Geeta to come home early, and parking his car, he entered the carnival. That was his only fault.

Sleepless the whole of that night, Geeta discovered that Sunil did not return home till the early hours of the morning. Why? Because of mechanical trouble he had been stuck up at the top of a giant wheel in a carnival. Geeta scoffed. She had never heard such a third class excuse in her whole life. Sunil protested that he was telling the truth. Geeta ridiculed his story so much that he seriously started considering telling her a lie. Just to keep peace in the family, especially when she threatened to go home to her mother’s place by the first train. If he did not tell her the truth of where he had spent the night.

And thus started the sequence of lies that went from one impossible, hilarious situation to another. Till at last it seemed certain that Sunil’s first mistake of trying to pacify his suspicious wife would lead to the breaking up of three families, and three happily married couples.

How everything came right in the end, how Geeta realized that it is a wife’s nagging suspicion that leads many a husband astray, and how everyone learnt the lesson that happiness in married life can only be based on mutual faith, is the essence of AAJ KI TAAZA KHABAR.
